Flamengo post third straight league win

Flamengo won their third straight match with a 3-0 victory over Avai in Brazil's Serie A championship on Wednesday.

Alan Patrick opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark at the Maracana stadium before striker Kayke added two more in the second half.

The result lifted Flamengo to eighth in the 20-team standings with 32 points while Avai slipped to 17th, nine points further adrift.

In Porto Alegre, Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez scored twice as Internacional routed Vasco da Gama 6-0.

And in Sao Paulo, Corinthians overcame Fluminense 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

In other matches on Wednesday, Sao Paulo drew 0-0 at Joinville, hosts Goias defeated Palmeiras 1-0, Atletico Paranaense won 1-0 at Atletico Mineiro, Coritiba were held to a 0-0 draw by visitors Sport and Cruzeiro won 2-1 at Ponte Preta. Endit
