Upholding world peace a noble mission for Chinese soldiers: Xi

President Xi Jinping said Thursday that upholding world peace is a noble mission for the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China.

"The PLA is the people's army. All its officers, men and women must bear in mind their responsibility of serving the people whole-heartedly," Xi said at a gathering to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

He urged the PLA to faithfully fulfill the sacred duty of protecting the nation's security and people's well-being, and carry out the noble mission of upholding world peace. Endi
