Venezuelan media highlighted on Wednesday President Nicolas Maduro's visit to China, including meeting with top Chinese leaders and signing new cooperation agreements with China on energy and mining sectors.

The state-run Venezuelan News Agency (AVN) said both nations had agreed to bolster cooperation at the closing ceremony of the 14th meeting of the China-Venezuela High-Level Joint Commission which gathered about 300 officials and entrepreneurs from the two countries on Wednesday.

Maduro, who broadcast his weekly TV program from Beijing, said the 14 new agreements will deepen the links with China. Praising the high-level commission, he expressed the hope that it will contribute to a stable and sound development of bilateral ties.

The local media also reported Maduro's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday where both heads of State expressed their support to develop and foster friendship and cooperation.

The state-run newspaper Ciudad Caracas, published Xi's wishes to boost practical cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit to take full advantage of the current financing mechanisms and explore new areas such as finance, mining and agriculture.
