Czech university offers free language course to refugees with asylum

Xinhua, September 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Czech West Bohemian University in Plzen will offer free Czech language courses to migrants who decide to stay in the country and are granted asylum, its rector Miroslav Holecek said Wednesday.

It will be a single semester or one-year course and include basic information on life in the Czech Republic and Czech history.

Holecek said it would be a good opportunity for refugees interested in staying in the country.

He added their integration and understanding of the country would also help improve the atmosphere in Czech society. "By learning the Czech language, they will communicate better with local people and thus softening the cultural differences and barriers between them," he said.

Holecek said the university may offer further free study to migrants who pass the course. Endit
