Danish toy maker Lego Group on Wednesday posted a revenue increase of 23 percent for the first half of 2015, backed by broad-based sales growth across all regions.
Revenue for the first six months of 2015 stood at 14.14 billion Danish kroner (2.13 billion U.S. dollars), up 23 percent from 11.46 billion kroner for the same period last year, the company said in its interim financial statement.
Excluding the impact of fluctuations in foreign exchange rate, revenue in the fist half of this year grew by 18 percent year-on-year, according to the company.
Lego said sales were driven by double-digit growth across all geographical regions and strong product innovation on themes such as LEGO Ninjago, LEGO Elves and LEGO Creator.
Product lines such as LEGO City, LEGO Creator, LEGO Technic, and LEGO Star Wars continued to deliver very strong global results, it added.
"A strong performance across the entire product range enabled us to deliver a highly satisfactory result for the first half of 2015," said Lego Group CEO Joergen Vig Knudstorp in the statement.
Though the company did not provide a forecast for its full year result, Knudstorp nonetheless said there would be, "another satisfactory result" for 2015.
The company employs more than 15,000 people globally, and its manufacturing facility in Jiaxing, China, is expected to employ 600 people by the end of 2015, and will be fully operational in 2017. Endit
