HK chief executive to attend V-Day commemorations in Beijing

Hong Kong's Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying will lead a delegation to Beijing on Wednesday to attend the commemorative activities of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War to be held on the following day, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government news website said here on Tuesday.

At the invitation of the central government, the delegation comprises members from various sectors of the community, and the activities include a commemorative rally, military parade and a cultural gala.

Leung will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon of Friday. The Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR government Carrie Lam will be acting chief executive Wednesday morning and the Financial Secretary John Tsang will be acting chief executive from Wednesday afternoon to Friday morning. Endi
