Both China and Japan recorded their third straight victory after beating their respective opponents at the FIBA Asia Women's Basketball Championship here on Monday.

China and Japan will have a face-to-face competition on Tuesday.

"We prepare for it all year, in every practice, not just for the game against Japan," said Thomas Maher, China's head coach.

The hosts showed domination in front of Indian girls with a 102-39 victory. Four Chinese players had double-digit points, led by Gao Song's 18 points and 12 boards. Huang Sijing scored 13.

China stormed to a 13-0 start four minutes into the game, forcing their opponents into a timeout. India made their first shot with four minutes to go in the first quarter. Jeena had all of four points for India in the first 12 minutes. China set the winning tone with an overwhelming 25-point lead in hand.

With a huge margin, the hosts had all 12 players in rotation during this match. They began to show their advantage in height and experience, while the visitors had few chances to attack the basket. China's lead was extended to 32 points into the halftime, and got a 63-point win at last.

In a tight match-up with Chinese Taipei, who also had two wins in a row before, defending champion Japan took on a 25-8 second quarter to reverse the momentum, and won the match at 60-44.

Chinatsu Yamamoto finished with game-high 14 points for Japan. Mio Shinozaki added 10 points.

"We will spare no efforts in the match against China tomorrow," said Japan's post player Ramu Tokashiki.

In another level 1 match, South Korea got their first win in the tournament after beating Thailand 97-41.

In level 2 matches, the Philippines upset Sri Lanka 65-45, Malaysia beat Hong Kong, China 78-61, and DPR Korea downed Kazakhstan 68-55. Endi
