Vietnam, Venezuela vow to boost ties in agriculture, energy

Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang held talks with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro here on Monday, and the two sides vowed to further boost ties in agriculture and energy, among others.

The Venezuelan president is on an official visit to Vietnam from Aug. 30 to 31 at the invitation of Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

Maduro said at a press briefing after the talks that Venezuela welcomed an agreement signed between the two countries on agriculture cooperation for 2015-2018, adding that the deal was of significant meaning in bilateral ties.

The two sides also discussed measures to expand cooperation in energy sector, especially Vietnam's exploitation activities of oil and gas in Venezuela.

Vietnamese president said both sides agreed to create favorable conditions for enterprises from the two countries operating in such fields as energy, oil and gas, agriculture and construction.

Sang noted that cooperation potentials between the two countries are huge.

During his stay, Maduro is also scheduled to meet with vice chairperson of Vietnamese National Assembly and pay courtesy calls on Vietnamese prime minister and general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam as well as meet Vietnamese enterprises.
