Jamaica overcame arch rivals the United States to win the women's 4x400m relay on the last day of Beijing athletics world championships on Sunday.
Jamaica's Novlene Williams-Mills overtook America's Francena McCorory in the final meters to win the title in three minutes 19.13 seconds, a world leading time.
"These girls, they did all they way," said Williams-Mills.
She said the strong wish to win gave her much strength. "That's when you have the heart of a champion,. That is what you do," she said.
Jamaican second leg Shericka Jackson thought the victory felt all the more better when grabbing it from a very strong American team.
"I am feeling great. Every year they make the US relay a favorite. But now we have the A+ game. When I ran I thought: Nobody will grab the gold medal from Jamaica," said Jackson.
The United States looked on way to the gold medal when Beijing 400m winner Allyson Felix led the field to hand McCorory the baton and only had to settle for the silver in 3:19.44 in the end. Britain posted a season best to take bronze in 3:23.62. Enditem
