Slovak police catch man attempting to smuggle two migrants to Germany

The Slovak police have detained a person who was attempting to smuggle two migrants to Germany, Slovak Police Corps Presidium spokesperson Michal Slivka Confirmed on Friday.

A police patrol pulled over a suspect vehicle with German licence plates between Lozorno and Malacky in the Western Slovakia. The vehicle had driven into Slovakia from the Czech Republic.

The driver turned out to be a German citizen of Pakistani ethnicity, while the remaining two individuals were unable to prove their identify.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the two migrants, aged 29 and 41 respectively, were travelling from Hungary and hoped to get into Germany. One of the men was an asylum seeker in Hungary, where both will be extradited.

"Within the next few hours, the driver will be charged and sentenced for smuggling in a fast-tracked procedure. If found guilty, he could face between one and five years in jail," added Slivka. Endit
