Georgia student dies after campus shooting

Xinhua, August 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Savannah State University in Georgia said on Friday authorities were investigating the death of a student killed in a shooting Thursday night.

Christopher Starks, a junior from the metro Atlanta area, died at a local hospital Thursday night after being transported to hospital for treatment of gunshot injuries he sustained during an altercation at the SSU Student Union building, according to a statement by the university.

Starks was the only individual transported to a medical facility following the incident, and so far no arrests had been made, said the statement.

Hours before the shooting incident, Mississippi State University on Thursday issued an alert to tell students to seek shelter due to an active shooter situation on campus, and on Tuesday, local authorities in West Virginia said a 14-year-old male student with a pistol held several students and a teacher hostage at a high school.
