No Hungarian among four detained related to truck of dead migrants

Xinhua, August 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hungarian National Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Friday that authorities had detained four people in Hungary in connection with the truck with 71 dead bodies found on a motorway outside of Vienna but denied Hungarians were among the detainees.

Speaking to local wire service MTI, Hungarian police spokesperson Viktoria Csiszer-Kovacs said three of the detained men were Bulgarian nationals and the fourth was an Afghan. She also said that 20 more people had been questioned.

Csiszer-Kovacs didn't specify where the arrests had taken place. She also said there were home searches and seizures of property but again did not specify where they occurred.

The spokesperson said police had recommended the formal arrest of the four, adding that the Hungarian police force were working together with its Austrian counterpart to investigate every aspect of the incident.

According to news portal index.hu, the truck was owned by a Hungarian company called Mastermobilker even though the logo on its side was Slovak. Enditem
