Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen on Friday made his first visit to Germany to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin since becoming prime minister in June.
"Germany is one of our closest allies and a key partner in the EU. So I find it quite natural that my first trip abroad after the government change is to Germany to meet with Angela Merkel," Rasmussen said ahead of the visit.
The goal of the visit is to underline the close relationship between Germany and Denmark, and the main topics at the meeting will be the current European Union policies and foreign policy matters, the prime minister's office said in a statement.
Prior to the meeting in Berlin, Rasmussen will pay a business visit to Munich where he will meet with representatives of Danish companies.
"Germany is our largest export market, so I will start the trip with a business visit to Munich to discuss opportunities to increase Danish exports," Rasmussen said. Endit
