The deputy director of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Feng Wei, met with members of the Hong Kong Democratic Party in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Wednesday, a spokesperson said Friday.

During the meeting, political, economic and social issues in the SAR were discussed, according to a statement by the spokesperson.

The statement added that the central government often meets with SAR residents and political parties to collect their opinions.

It was stressed that all residents and officials should understand and implement the "one country, two systems" principle.

The prosperity and stability of the SAR; national sovereignty; security and development interests; as well as support for the SAR government and its chief executive were also highlighted by the statement. Endi
