Sevilla sign former Spain international Llorente

Sevilla FC on Thursday confirmed the signing of former Spain international striker Fernando Llorente from Italian Champions Juventus.

The 30-year-old has arrived as a free agent after agreeing to rescind his four year contract with Juventus with two years remaining on the deal.

He has agreed a buyout clause of 20 million euros (around 22 million euros) with Sevilla, who announced the agreement on their official website.

"Sevilla FC have signed Fernando Llorente this Thursday, after reaching an agreement to cancel his contract with Juventus," said the announcement.

Llorente began his career in the Athletic Club Bilbao youth system, progressing through the ranks before making his debut in January 2005. He went on to make 262 league appearances for the club, scoring 85 goals, as well as playing a major role in the club's progress to the 2012 Europa League and King's Cup finals.

However, a breakdown in relations with the club saw him leave in 2013 after failing to agree a new contract and he was able to join Juventus on a free transfer.

During his two years in Italy he helped made 66 league appearances, scoring 23 goals and winning two league titles and the Italian Cup.

So far Llorente has played 23 times for Spain, scoring 7 goals and forming part of the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship winning squads.

He could make his Sevilla debut on Sunday when Sevilla entertain Atletico Madrid. Endi
