Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday lost more than 100 points and closed at below 10,000 points.

The blue-chip index opener lower and managed to go up after the industry data in the United States turned out to be positive, according to local analysts. The DAX index lost 130.69 points, or 1.29 percent and closed at 9,997.43 points.

Muenchener Rueck AG, a reinsurance company, was the only one among the 30 DAX member shares that rose. It added 0.31 percent.

On the other hand, SAP SE, a company software giant, lost 3.29 percent. The industrial gas company Linde AG slipped by 3.26 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor company, slid by 3.16 percent. The two utilities companies RWE AG St and E.ON SE each plunged by 2.38 percent and 2.13 percent.

The turnover stood at 5.02 billion euros (around 5.78 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 384.59 million euros (around 442.8 million U.S. dollars). Endit
