UK state minister arriving to discuss Nepal's post-earthquake reconstruction

state minister from the United Kingdom is arriving in Kathmandu on Thursday to discuss issues related to his government's support in the reconstruction of earthquake-ravaged Nepal, the UK Embassy in Nepal said on Wednesday.

During his two-day visit, UK state Minister for International Development Desmond Swayne is holding meetings with senior government officials in Kathmandu, the embassy said in a press statement.

As part this visit Swayne will examine some of UK funded projects in the area of disaster preparedness including the Humanitarian Goods depot.

According to the embassy, the state minister is also scheduled to visit an earthquake-affected area and meet with the community, people from Non-government organizations and UN partners who have been working closely with the UK's Department for International Development Nepal to deliver vital humanitarian assistance.

The UK aid stood at ?70 million after the devastating earthquakes jolted the Himalayan nation on April 25 that claimed nearly 9,000 lives and another 22,000 injured. Endit
