Iceland's unemployment down in July

Iceland's unemployment rate stood at 3.2 percent in July 2015, registering a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 points, according to a labor force survey issued Wednesday by Statistics Iceland.

The survey showed that the number of people in the labor force market in July was 197,500, of which 6,300 people were unemployed.

Seasonally-adjusted data showed that in July, the number of unemployed people amounted to 8,100, increasing by 1,800 from June. The unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in July compared to 3.3 percent in June.

The trend for seasonally adjusted data in the last six months showed that the unemployment rate has decreased by 0.2 points and by 0.7 points for the last 12 months.

Seasonal adjustment is a statistical method for removing the seasonal component of a time series that is used when analyzing non-seasonal trends. Endit
