Xinhua, August 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least three Indian security forces personnel were killed and six others injured in an ambush by the left-wing Naxalite rebels in the eastern state of Odisha Wednesday, a senior police official said.

"The incident happened near Sukma-Malkangiri border in the state's Chitrkonda district when a patrol party of the para- military Border Security Force was securing an under-construction bridge," he said on condition of anonymity.

In fact, the security forces personnel were killed in a landmine blast triggered by the rebels near the under-construction bridge, the official said.

While three of them were killed on the spot, those injured have been rushed to a government hospital where the conditions of some are said to be serious, he said.

A massive manhunt has been launched to track down the perpetrators of the attack, the official said, adding that senior police officials have rushed to the spot. Endi
