73 militants, 4 soldiers killed in Afghanistan within day

Some 73 militants have been killed as Afghan army waged operations in 16 out of the country's 34 provinces since early Tuesday, said the country's Defense Ministry on Wednesday morning.

"During Afghan National Army cleanup operations and airstrikes, 73 terrorists, including an insurgent commander named Mullah Mujib, were killed, 25 terrorists wounded and 12 others were detained over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

The ANA also seized weapons and defused several roadside bombs and landmines during the above operations, the statement added.

It also confirmed losing four army personnel as a result of militants' firing and roadside bomb attacks within the same period.
