Danish gov't predicts further export growth for 2015

The Danish government upgraded the country's export growth expectations for 2015 on Tuesday.
Denmark's export in basic products, excluding energy, shipping and aviation, is expected to grow 6.2 percent in 2015 when measured in current prices, as against an earlier forecast of 5 percent growth, the Danish foreign ministry said in a statement.
It added that the growth is due to "a good competitiveness, favorable exchange rates, lower oil prices and continued positive growth prospects in Europe and the United States."
"This is good news for the Danish economy, but there is need for us to further strengthen the export sectors to boost growth and employment. It is one of the government's top priorities," said Denmark's Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen.
Although the growth prospects for the world economy in 2015 have been reduced from 2.8 percent in February to 2.5 percent in August, the positive outlook of Danish exports is based on a combination of favorable exchange rates and stronger export performance in the first six months of 2015 than previously expected.
Danish exports to the United States and China in the first six months of 2015 increased over 20 percent as compared to the same period last year, while exports to Germany also increased remarkably during this period by almost 8 percent.
Meanwhile, the Danish foreign ministry said it expects a 5.4 percent export growth in 2016. Endit
