Indian President to meet Seychelles counterpart Wednesday

Xinhua, August 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Seychelles President James Alix Michel will hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India's national capital Wednesday, sources said Tuesday.

President Michel, who is leading a high-level delegation including Foreign Minister Joel Morgan and Finance Minister Jean- Paul Adam, will also meet Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, apart from calling on President Pranab Mukherjee, the sources said.

Modi had met the visiting president five months back when he visited the island nation.

During President Michel's visit, both countries are likely to sign a number of pacts.

"India and Seychelles have close and friendly relations. As maritime neighbors, our partnership is anchored in the need for peace and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region," an official statement said.

"Development partnership, especially in the areas of capacity building and human resource development forms an important part of our engagement," it added.

President Michel will go to Mumbai Thursday before wrapping up his three-day tour. Endi
