Rwanda wins handball, basketball golds in EAC military games

Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) teams won two gold medals Monday in basketball and handball in the ongoing East African Community (EAC) military games taking place in Kampala, Uganda.

Rwanda won the last matches in basketball and handball Monday evening, and got both titles with three wins against one loss each.

The best scorer in handball with 39 points was Rugira Amande from Rwanda team while his colleague J Paul Muhawenayo was ranked the best disciplined player and performer.

In basketball, Rwanda only conceded to Burundi while in handball Rwanda won three matches against Burundi, Kenya, Uganda and lost to Tanzania.

In football, Rwanda Defense Force is currently leading with 7 out of 12 points followed by Uganda and Kenya both with 5 points.

Uganda and Kenya will play their last match on Wednesday while Rwanda has finished all games. RDF will win the title if Uganda and Kenya draw, or the winner of the last match will be champions while RDF finish in second.

In Cross Country RDF teams ranked third for 8km women race and 12km men race. Kenya won the gold medal in that discipline followed by Uganda.

In netball women, RDF team ranked fourth. Uganda won the gold medal in netball women.

The EAC military games will be closed on Wednesday at Mandela Stadium, Namboole in Kampala, featuring all five EAC partner states namely Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. Endi
