U.S. diplomat to visit India to shape bilateral strategic, commercial talks

Xinhua, August 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

A high-ranking U.S. diplomat is to visit India Wednesday to give shape to the first-ever Indo-U.S. strategic and commercial dialogue, sources said Tuesday.

"U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal will arrive in the Indian capital Wednesday for a two-day visit, during which she will meet Indian officials to fix the date and agenda of the bilateral strategic and commercial talks," the sources said.

Biswal's visit also comes ahead of a possible meeting between U. S. President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter travels to New York next month to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.

However, no date has been finalized for the meeting between Obama and Modi. Endi
