Tokyo stocks rebound 1.10 pct from steep drop in morning

Tokyo stocks rebounded 1.10 percent in the morning session of Tuesday, recovering from earlier losses on firming sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average moved 204.22 points higher to 18,744.90 following a 4.61 percent plunge Monday to the lowest level seen since Feb. 23. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 21.66 points, or 1.46 percent, to 1,502.53.

Major gainers included air transport, electric machinery and miscellaneous products. Endi
