Singapore stocks close 4.3 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 127. 62 points, or 4.30 percent, to close at 2,843.39.

A total of 1.85 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 89 billion Singapore dollars (1.34 billion U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 523 to 50, while 362 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 38.77 points, or 1.29 percent, to close at 2, 971.01 on Friday. Endi
