The male giant panda Kaikai, who turns seven on August 24, was given a birthday party a day earlier on Sunday with tailored cake and hundreds of blessing cards.
It is also his first birthday party since he came to Macao. He got an ideal treat with a colorful cake made out of frozen fruits and bamboo juice.
The greedy panda took one piece of heart-shaped watermelon decorated on the top of the cake with forelegs at the very start, and then enjoyed the big meal with the whole cake in arms like an eager child.
The tailored ice cake for giant panda Kaikai has several layers featured a number 7 on top, which looks like a rainbow.
"The cake is not just a present, but meet the nutritional needs for giant panda. It took me five days to make." said the vet Mo Yongxian.
Dozens of children were invited to write and draw on birthday cards to send their wishes to Kaikai.
A 6-year-old girl Weng Weiqiao said "I wish Kaikai happy birthday and live happily in Macao" while drawing a panda pair with bamboo in hands on a blessing card.
There are hundreds of cards glued on a wall and written in Chinese, English, Korean, Japanese by people around the world sending greeting words to Kaikai.
According to staff with Macao's Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the panda pair have been loved and welcomed warmly by residents and tourists of the city since they met public on June 1. The panda pavilion in Seac Pai Van Park of Coloane island has received over 20,000 visitors. Endi
