Bangladesh PM urges OIC members to be united against terrorism

Xinhua, August 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member countries to be united against terrorism.

"Islam as a religion of peace teaches us tolerance," Hasina said at a meeting with visiting OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani at her office.

"Terrorists are just terrorists and there should not be any question of religion on the issue," the prime minister added.

She highlighted the necessity of settling conflicts among Muslim countries through discussions.

The OIC secretary general said the basic philosophy of the organization is to integrate Muslim countries.

Bangladesh always remains in the forefront of OIC's activities and is playing its due role, he said.

The OIC secretary general invited the prime minister to the next OIC Summit to be held in 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey. Endi
