1st LD: At least three civilians killed in Mogadishu car bomb explosion: police

At least 3 civilians were killed in a car bomb explosion in Somali capital Mogadishu on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Senior police officer Said Abdi told Xinhua that the car which exploded was parked at Juba conjunction north of the capital.

"The car exploded at a checkpoint in Juba conjunction, we can confirm so far that 3 civilians were killed and others injured," he said.

Residents said they heard huge car bomb blast followed by heavy gunfire.

"I was near the scene when the car exploded. 3 people at nearby restaurant were killed," Mogadishu resident Hasan Nor told Xinhua. Enditem
