A deadly car bomb rocked Macrorayon locality in downtown Kabul on Saturday leaving 12 people including foreigners dead and injuring 67 others, said spokesman for Public Health Ministry, Aziz Kawusi.

RAMADI, Iraq -- A total of 25 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed on Saturday in air strikes by Iraqi aircraft in Iraq's western province of Anbar, a provincial security source said.

In one attack, the Iraqi warplanes pounded the IS positions in Albu Haiyat area in west of the town of Haditha, leaving 15 IS militants killed, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-IS-Attack)

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon said Saturday that its military leader pledged "unwavering commitment" of the United States to South Korea's defense.

According to a Pentagon statement issued on Saturday, U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, called his South Korean counterpart Adm. Choi Yoon-Hee late Friday night and reiterated the strength of the U.S.-South Korea alliance. (U.S.-S.Korea-Defense)

ROME -- The Italy's coastguard was coordinating the rescue of nearly 3,000 migrants off the Libyan coast after receiving SOS calls from 18 different crowded vessels, Italian reports said Saturday.

The rescue operation consisted of six boats from Italy and one from Norway. They were to get the migrants safely off 14 rubber dinghies and four other vessels carrying an estimated total of between 2,000 and 3,000 people. (Italy-Migrants)
