Afghan forces recapture district in N. Afghanistan

Afghan security forces recaptured Kohistanat district in the northern Saripul province on Saturday after launching operations against Taliban militants, acting provincial governor Abdul Jabar Haqbeen said.

"Security forces with the support of local people retook the control of Kohistanat district, forcing Taliban militants to flee, " Haqbeen told Xinhua.

Five militants have been killed and nine others wounded during the ongoing operation, the official said, adding that three security personnel have sustained injuries.

Taliban militants who captured Kohistanat district couple of days ago have yet to comment. Endi
