Alert remains for Typhoon Swan

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued a blue warning for approaching typhoon Swan, the third straight day such an alert has been announced.

Swan was in the waters 360 km south of Taitung City of Taiwan at 5 a.m., with a speed of 45 meters per second at its center. It is moving northward at a speed of 10 km per hour and expected to arrive near the East China Sea on Sunday evening.

Winds of Beaufort 7 to 9 are expected in coastal areas of China's Fujian, Taiwan and Diaoyu Islands as well as the southern part of the East China Sea.

The NMC advised ships and boats in the affected regions to seek shelter in harbors.

China's meteorological disaster alerts are categorized as blue, yellow, orange and red as the severity of disasters ascends. Endi
