4.0-magnitude quake hits N. India

An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh early on Thursday, local media reported.

The Press Trust of India quoted meteorological officials as saying that the quake jolted the Mandi district at 00:48 a.m. local time, with the epicenter at 31.7 degrees north latitude and 77 degrees east longitude.

No report of damage has so far been reported. Endi
