Ukraine's industrial output down 13.4 pct in July

Xinhua, August 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ukraine's industrial production in July was down 13.4 percent year-on-year, which is slightly better than a 18.1-percent drop recorded in June, official data showed on Tuesday.

According to the report published by the State Statistics Service, Ukraine's coal mining and machine building industries suffered the biggest decline last month, contracting by 42.9 percent and 23.3 percent respectively from July 2014.

The drop was partially offset by stronger output of pharmaceutical industry, which grew 3.2 percent year-on-year last month, the report said.

According to it, on a month-to-month basis, industrial output in July rose 3.4 percent from the previous month, higher than a 1. 5-percent growth recorded in June.

In 2014, Ukraine's industrial output fell 10.7 percent mainly due to the unrest in eastern regions, the country's industrial heartland. Endite
