Republic of Congo marks 55th independence anniversary

Republic of Congo on Saturday marked its 55th independence anniversary with festivities in Ouesso, the country's third largest city situated about 1,000 km north of the capital, Brazzaville.
The celebrations that included a military parade, were presided over by President Denis Sassou Nguesso and the First Lady Antoinette Sassou Nguesso.
The event was attended by several foreign dignitaries who included Central African Republic's President Catherine Samba Panza, Equatorial Guinea's Theodore Obiang Nguema, Benin's Boni Yayi as well as representatives of Cameroonian, Chadian and Togolese presidents.
Several sociocultural, sports and economic activities were organized between Aug. 13 to 14 in Ouesso as part of celebrations of the country's 55th independence anniversary.
A training center for young girls and a new high school were respectively inaugurated by the country's First Lady and the Hydrocarbons Minister Andre Raphael Loemba.
Madam Sassou Nguesso equally presided over the 9th edition of Miss Independence Beauty Pageant in Ouesso. Endit
