Eurogroup finance ministers on Friday evening approved the proposal of an 86-billion-euro (about 95 billion U.S. dollars) bailout package to keep Greece afloat and secure the debt-torn country's stay in the single currency bloc.

The "positive" outcome of the hours-long meeting has made the intense work during past weeks "paid off," Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem told a press conference after an extraordinary Eurogroup meeting.

ANKARA -- Three Turkish security forces soldiers were killed and six others wounded in clashes with the militants of the banned Kurdish Workers' party (PKK) in Hakkari province in southeastern Turkey on Friday, the state-run Anatolia news agency reported.

The clashes erupted when a group of PKK rebels opened fire on the Turkish troops who were on duty in Daglica region, 45 km from Yuksekova town of Hakkari province, leaving the three soldiers dead and six others wounded, according to the report. (Turkey-PKK-Clash)

RIO DE JANEIRO -- At least 19 people have died and another seven were injured in a series of shootings across the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, official sources revealed Friday.

Alexandre de Moraes, secretary of public security in the state of Sao Paulo, said the shootings took place on Thursday night, and were the "largest killing of the year." A total of 15 were killed in the city of Osasco, three in Barueri and one in Itapevi, all in the metropolitan area of South America's largest city. (Brazil-Shootings)

HAVANA -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry chaired here on Friday the formal ceremony of raising the American flag in the recently reopened U.S. embassy in Cuba, after 54 years of animosity between the two neighbors.

James Tracy, Mike and Larry Morris East, the three Marines who had lowered the flag on Jan. 4, 1961, were in charge of delivering the standard to other three young marines who raised the Stars and Stripes on this special occasion. (Cuba-U.S.-Embassy) Endi
