Indian Army foils major terror attack in NE India

Xinhua, August 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Indian Army foiled a major terror attack in the northeastern state of Assam late Thursday night, sources said Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, an unit of the Indian Army started combing the dense jungles of Rabha Para in the state's Kokrajhar district and gunned down one of the four terrorists who were planning to blow up railway tracks, the sources said.

A large cache of explosives has been recovered from the area, the sources said, adding the slain militant belonged to banned Kamtapur Liberation Organization. The other three militants have managed to escape, they added.

India is on high alert ahead of its Independence Day celebrations Saturday and security forces have been deployed across the country to keep a tight vigil. Endi
