Ireland's industrial production sees highest increase among EU member states

Xinhua, August 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ireland's industrial production saw highest increase among the member states of the European Union (EU) in June when compared to the same month of 2014, according to figures from Eurostat on Wednesday.

Eurostat, the EU's statistical office, said Ireland saw growth of 27.6 percent when comparing June 2015 to June 2014.

It said Denmark is the second place with its industrial production increasing by 7.6 percent.

The Eurostat figures showed industrial production was 1.7 percent higher across the EU's 28 member states and up 1.2 percent across the euro zone.

Greece had the biggest fall in industrial production, down 4.6 percent.

But Eurostat said month-on-month industrial production fell in the EU and the euro zone, down 0.2 percent and 0.4 percent respectively.

Ireland's industrial production also dipped between May and June, down 2 percent in the period, despite its strong growth on last year's figures, according to Eurostat. Endit
