1st LD: Myanmar's ruling party nominates 1,147 candidates nationwide to run in general election

Myanmar's ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has nominated a total of 1, 147 candidates nationwide to run in the upcoming general election scheduled for Nov. 8, Party General Secretary U Maung Maung Thein told a meeting welcoming the candidates in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

Of the candidates, 320 are to contest for the seats of House of Representatives (Lower House), 166 for House of Nationalities ( Upper House), 632 for Region or State Parliament and 29 for Region or State Parliament of National Races.

The candidates include Dr. Sai Mauk Kham and U Nyan Tun, who are also current vice presidents and will respectively compete in Lashio, Shan state-North constituency for the seat of House of Representatives and Bago-West constituency for the seat of the House of Nationalities. Endi
