Venezuela praises medal winners of Panapan American Games

Venezuela on Tuesday reached ninth place in Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games medal ranking thanks to the good performance in table tennis, track and field and swimming, local media reported.

The winning athletes were praised by local press as well as by the Venezuelan authorities.

Parapan American Games are a multi-sport event held after every Pan-American Games for athletes with disabilities, currently held in Toronto, Canada.

So far, the Venezuelan delegation has won one gold medal, three silver and six bronze.

President Nicolas Maduro in Twitter congratulated Edson Gomez, who won silver medal in table tennis men class IV category, local media reported.

Maduro encouraged the rest of the Venezuelan athletes to continue in the path of victory.

Meanwhile, local press highlighted the good performance of the medal winners.
