Jordan warns against reduction of aid to Syrian refugees

Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Tuesday warned of consequences in case of reduction in international aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
At a meeting in Amman with Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme Ertharin Cousin, Judeh called for increased aid to Jordan to help provide services to Syrian refugees.
The two sides discussed future steps to provide aid to the Syrian refugees who fled violence in their country seeking safe haven.
Reducing aid to Syrian refugee will have very negative impact on Jordan, which is home to more than 1.5 million Syrian refugees.
Jordan is facing several challenges due to increased influx of Syrian refugees amidst difficult economic conditions and limited resources.
Th UN official voice support to Jordan and its effort in helping the Syrian refugees.
It said the UN programmer will continue to support Jordan to be able to absorb the pressure an deal with the situation. She also called on donor countries to boost aid to Jordan.
Jordan has repeatedly called for increased aid from donor countries and launched several appeals in this regard.
It was forced to suspend treatment of Syrian refugees at public healthcare facilities due to limited budget. Endit
