Beijing's metro operator has been ordered to pay 21,300 yuan (3,400 U.S. dollars) to a passenger who broke a rib when boarding a train at a crowded subway station.
Beijing Xicheng District People's Court said Zhu had been getting on a train at Sihui Station at 7:40 p.m. on September 16, 2013, when he was shoved by another passenger and fell into a seat.
Sihui is a transfer station on the east-west Line One, which is infamous for its busy rush hours.
After failing to locate the perpetrator, Zhu, who also sustained a chest injury, sued Beijing Mass Transit Railway for 170,000 yuan.
The court said only three employees were on the platform when the accident occurred, thus, the station was undermanned and was partly responsible. Endit
