Turkey detains 3 foreigners suspected of IS members

Xinhua, August 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Three Russian citizens suspected of being members of the Islamic State (IS) were detained in Adana province of Turkey, private Dogan news agency reported on Monday.

"Three foreign nationals who are believed to be IS members are arrested in Adana's Yumurtalik town," the Turkish General Staff said in a written statement.

The Turkish government has stepped up fight against IS members since early 2015 with hundreds of IS militants detained in the country.

On July 20, an IS suspected suicide bomber attack in the Sanliurfa province of Turkey claimed 33 lives and wounded 104 others.

One Turkish soldier was killed as IS militants opened fire from the Syrian side of border after the Sanliurfa attack.

The Turkish military aircraft bombed IS targets on the side of Syria near the southern Turkish province of Kilis. Endit
