Afghan protesters call on gov't to bring terrorists to justice

Xinhua, August 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hundreds of Kabul residents took to streets on Monday, calling on government to identify and bring to justice those behind the terrorist attacks that claimed at least 50 lives and injured hundreds of others on Friday.

Carrying banners inscribed with photos of victims and chanting slogans "Death to Taliban, Death to terrorists," the protesters demanded the government to award exemplary punishment to all those involved in terrorist activities and killing innocent people.

Three deadly offensives including two suicide attacks and a truck bomb hit different parts of Kabul city on Friday, leaving 50 people killed and hundreds injured.

The deadly and destructive one occurred in Shah Shahid locality early Friday when an explosive-laden truck went off, killing 15 people and injuring some 400 others, according to locals.

Carrying the portraits of their beloved victims, the protesters, mostly from Shah Shahid locality were marching towards Arg or Presidential Palace to lodge their protest over what they termed " failure of government" to check terrorist activities, but police blocked their way and the protesters dispersed peacefully.
