Uganda's Sadolin Paints FC demotes Danish coach Der Walt

Xinhua, August 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Uganda Premier League side Sadolin Paints FC has demoted Danish born coach Jacques Van Der Walt to position of assistant coach.

Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saidi Kakuuku told Xinhua on Friday that although they had appointed Der Walt late last month, they discovered his professional qualifications do not match what is needed by the Uganda FA to handle a Premier League team.

"We have now decided that he becomes the assistant coach, while Simon Kirumira is the head coach," explained Kakuuku.

Edgar Watson, the Uganda FA Chief Executive Officer, told Xinhua that a coach should have a Confederation of African Football (CAF) licence B certificate or its equivalent to be able to handle a team in the Uganda Premier League. The 24-year-old Der Walt last season was handling another regional side Mutungo FC in Kampala.

Der Walt becomes the second foreign coach to be signed by a Uganda Premier League side after Antonio Flores who signed to handle Uganda Cup winners SC Villa. The Spanish born coach already started work and is expected to guide the team through the season and during the 2016 CAF Confederations Cup. Endi
