Xinhua, August 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Turkish government decided to freeze assets of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and four former Yemeni officials, Turkish media reported on Friday.

The Turkish government made the decision in line with a UN Security Council resolution, which was published on the Official Gazzette on Friday following approval by the cabinet, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Assets of former President Saleh, his son Ahmad Ali Abdullah Saleh and members of the Houthi militias Abdulhaleek el Houthi, Abdullah Yahya el Hakeem and Abdulmalik el Houthi will be frozen, according to the decision which will be valid until Feb. 26, 2016.

This decision reflects UN Security Council resolution which authorized sanctions against anyone in Yemen who obstructs the country's political transition or commits human rights violations.

A 2011 uprising that forced former President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step aside, marking the end of his 33-year rule in the Arab country.

The security situation in Yemen has sharply deteriorated since the conflicts erupted in several provinces in the country's southern regions. Endit
