India sends relief supplies to flood-hit Myanmar

India on Thursday sent relief supplies, including rice, noodles and essential medicines, to flood-hit Myanmar.

"On the request of the government of Myanmar, India has rushed relief supplies to Myanmar which has seen heavy flooding due to rain in the past few days," the Home Ministry said in statement.

The relief supplies, which include 100 tonnes of rice, 10,000 packets of noodles and 10 tonnes of medicines such as chlorine tablets, were sent by three aircraft to Myanmar.

Some 50 people have been killed and over 200,000 people displaced by floods and landslides in Myanmar. Endi
