Seven people, including a suicide attacker, were killed and 10 others injured as the attacker blew himself up in the eastern Logar province on Thursday, a security official said.

"A suicide bomber driving an explosive-laden vehicle blew it up next to a base of Special Police Force in Pul-i-Alam town at 7:15 a.m. local time (0245 GMT), killing himself and six others including three civilians," General Abdul Raziq told Xinhua.

Ten more people, including police and civilians, sustained injuries in the deadly suicide bombing, he said, adding that the casualties may go up.

Meantime, Haseeb Stanikzai, the head of Logar Provincial Council, said several nearby houses, including the Provincial Council building, were also damaged in the explosion.

Local officials have blamed Taliban militants for the attack. However, the armed outfit which is largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings has yet to claim responsibility. Endi
