Xinhua, August 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Copenhagen Fashion Week kicked off here Wednesday, featuring the latest designs for spring and summer 2016.

The fashion week, which runs until Aug. 7, will feature 30 runway shows including well-known Danish labels such as By Malene Birger, Henrik Vibskov as well as an interesting mix of new talent and foreign brands.

"Fashion week is about more than sales and export growth. It is also about the many talents, the design schools and the recently graduated designers," said Eva Kruse, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week.

"Copenhagen is renowned for being a talent platform and an incubator for new names. This is due to the fact that we make room for them, in general, and at Copenhagen Fashion Week," Kruse added.

Established as a small luxurious label in 2009, the Copenhagen-based brand Lovechild 1979 opened the fashion week by showcasing a new collection of women's wear mainly using blue and black on stage.

Copenhagen Fashion Week, which was launched in 1964, has now become the Nordic region's largest fashion event, and takes place twice a year in February and August.

During the fashion week, four trade fairs will exhibit clothes and accessories for adults and children with more than 2,800 branded collections. Endit
