88 Afghan militants killed in 24 hours: Interior Ministry

Units of Afghan national police backed by the army have killed 88 Taliban militants during series of operations across the conflict-ridden country over the past 24 hours, the country's Interior Ministry said in a statement released here Wednesday.

During the operations which have been conducted in Nangarhar, Laghman, Parwan, Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Balkh, Zabul, Oruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Khost, Paktiya and Helmand provinces, another 16 insurgents sustained injuries, the statement said.

The statement didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.

Taliban militants haven't commented. Endi
